FAQ

  • Who is behind ALLY?

ALLY is an app created by ila Generation, a UK based social enterprise. Click the following links to learn more about our team and work.

  • Why focusing on bystanders?

As a social start-up, our aim is to inovate to trigger change. Working with gender-based violence survivors, we realised that the biggest obstacle to escaping violence was not accessing helplines numbers but overcoming fear, denial, shame and long lasting ties. We learnt from survivors’ stories that human connection, awareness and efficient communication could be game changers in cases of abuse. So we decided to create a digital tool that would bridge the gap between people needing help and relevant services.

  • What are ALLY stores?

ALLY stores are safe spaces around you. ALLY store staff have been equipped with the ALLY training to support anyone who would need help in store. These stores are places where you can go to escape abuse, harassment, violence of all kind or receive personal support.

We’re working in partnership with ngo partners who as well as with survivors and activists who have been guiding us through the creation and design of the ALLY training. The concept, design and content of ALLY was created in house.
